Steinberg, Paul - Biography


Paul Steinberg completed his medical training at the University of Toronto and his psychiatric training at the Universities of Toronto and Western Ontario.  He was associate professor and undergraduate program director, Department of Psychiatry, University of Western Ontario and assistant chief, Department of Psychiatry, St. Joseph’s Hospital, London, Ontario.  Subsequently he was clinical professor and psychotherapy program director, Department of Psychiatry, University of Alberta, and clinical coordinator, Psychiatric Day Treatment Program and director, Psychodynamic Psychiatry Program, University of Alberta Hospital.  He presently is clinical professor, Department of Psychiatry, University of British Columbia, where he is on the psychotherapy program committee. Dr. Steinberg is a graduate of the National Training Program in Contemporary Psychoanalysis of the National Institute of the Psychotherapies, New York City. He has published on psychodynamic aspects of consultation/liaison psychiatry, group psychotherapy, partial hospitalization, threats of violence, oral examinations and psychodynamic formulation.
