Initial Clinical Appointment

For those seeking initial appointment, an application form, a letter of intent, letter of support from Program Director and a letter from a site director (for Island & Northern Medical Programs only) identifying your expected role in teaching must accompany the application. Forms are available below. The applicant is responsible for getting the appropriate Program Director's letter of support.

Package should consist of :

1. Clinical Faculty Application Form

                 MD Application
                 Non-MD Application 

2. Signed letter of intent indicating how you plan to contribute to the department's education program.

3. Letter of support from the medical director at your hospital. If this is not applicable, then a letter from the UBC Program Director is appropriate. To facilitate this, we have provided a template for this letter: Support Letter Template

4. If applying for rank above Clinical Instructor, teaching evaluations or other evidence of teaching excellence is required.

5. Typed CV in UBC format-recommended for all applications but required for those applying for rank above Clinical Instructor.

Deadlines and Timing

The committee meets to review all applications, reappointments and promotions in a series of meetings each fall. Therefore the deadline for all applications is October 1st each year. Approved applications are processed in a large group and become effective on July 1st of the following year.

Note: Initial applications at the rank of clinical instructor may be considered at other times of the year. Please contact the Manager of Human Resources for more information.
